Inova Emergency Room

I had a severe UTI. I was not hopeful about getting it taken care of very well in this huge strange City. There were dozens of people waiting to be seen. And then I noticed the staff was moving people into triage and treatment very quickly, quietly, professionally, and my turn came after less than 10 minutes. The nurse took my vitals and another senior nurse/PA took it from there. Got blood work, a cubicle room, nothing fancy but everything proper and really well done. In the course of a few hours I noticed 100 people in various stages of treatment. And another 100 staff working on everyone in turn. No fancy machines to do IV fluids. Just a plain hook on the wall. A not uncomfortable chair, a privacy screen, and timely great service. I was very impressed. I highly recommend this ER. This hospital ER is a model for healthcare. Thanks, everyone.

I came to the ER here yesterday with chest pain. They immediately took it seriously and checked me out right away, which I was grateful for since I was a little scared. Everyone working there was lovely and the doctor, I think Dr. Chen, really listened to my concerns. Thankfully it was nothing serious, but I really appreciated their kindness and professionalism.

I recently visited this ER after being referred by an urgent care clinic, and I was thoroughly impressed with the care I received. Upon arrival, I was taken back immediately, and the nurses and doctors were incredibly proactive, patient, and thorough. Their professionalism and bedside manner were outstanding, making me feel well-cared for throughout my visit. The facility itself was very clean, the lobby was tidy and welcoming, and the ER room I was placed in was also clean, private and comfortable. Every staff member I interacted with was friendly, attentive, and truly compassionate. I highly recommend this ER to anyone in need of excellent medical care.

- staff were very friendly at the front desk, I did see them be rude to one guy but he was being a jerk so if you're nice and have patience so will they. - doctors were friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. They helped me through a few issues I had been having due to being sick and were honest with me when a subject I brought up, they didn't know much about and recommended that I talk to my specialist about it. - plenty of parking. - wait time can vary depending on how busy they are, I waited for two hours to get a room which is better than some other locations around the DMV area. - prices for medical help in general are very high especially with emergency room visits, this is a problem in general in this country and really needs reformed. - overall I would return to this location for medical help. - side note, I would like to have these places do a once an hour disinfecting clean in the waiting rooms to help limit the amount of germs that can get spread around, at least during cold season. I think I contracted COVID from a previous ER visit for another issue while I was in the waiting room at a different location.

Family member is missing, I'm trying to pass on his picture and contact information of the officer in charge. I first called the emergency department. The initial person was nice. But when she referred me to the next person. This second person berated me, would not let me get a word in and told me I should contact law enforcement (she would know this was done if she would listen ). Eventually after she persisted to talk over me as i requested to talk to someone in admin, I told her she had terrible customer service and she hung up. If hospital administration sees this its worth looking into. This incident occurred 2/8/25 at around 2:40pm. Sad and unacceptable.

Amazing facility, the staff is so kind and so efficient. One of the most efficient ER visits I’ve ever experienced, got me in and I was immediately taken care of. Thank you so much to the amazing attentive staff there who helped me.

We were taken back and put into a room relatively quickly, but it seems like we were then forgotten about. I was there with my infant son, and the doctor we dealt with didn't seem to have much experience with a baby. She seemed frustrated by his fussiness and unwillingness to cooperate with being poked and prodded. We would wait hours for any kind of communication, oftentimes with the tech or nurse showing up to perform a procedure that the doctor had NOT consulted with me on. One procedure in particular was especially traumatic for my son, the doctor did not fully explain why we were doing it (again the nurses and techs were forced to do so), and it ended up yielding nothing. I feel like I failed as a parent because I didn't advocate better for my child and he suffered unnecessarily at the hands of this ER. People were kind and the facility was clean, but the ER doctor really left me sour and I'm left wondering what to do.

This place is a more like a circus !! Walked in at 7:00 pm they was one other person in the lobby . I told the nurses I had hit my nose and can not breath out of one nostril and that I am in a lot of pain they told me to have a sit in they will have a room for me in a few mins .. during this time people keep walking in and was saw within minutes most of there complaints was flu like symptoms at 10:30 I was called back in to what was a chair in the middle of the hallway to wait for another 2 how after a X-ray I was diagnosed with a fractured nose and released 3:00 am If they was attending to people who had serious condition I could understand this was not the situation however ! Fractured nose is very painful 3:30 mins wait is ridiculous

I was in the ER few hours ago the whole team was professional and nice. Starting from the receptionist lady and the doctor. Special thank you for “Lydia” and “Alissa” you guys are awesome. Thank you for making my experience so comfortable!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I visited Inova Emergency Today and was truly amazed by the care I received. The service was excellent, but what left the biggest impact was meeting Dr. Matthew Cotham, MD. In my 30 years, I have never come across such an amazing doctor. He truly listened, explained everything with patience, and treated me with genuine respect and care. Too often doctors make you feel like just a number, but Dr. Cotham made me feel like a person. God bless him — he is the definition of what a real doctor should be.

I want to thank Dr. Katherine Ellis and Nurse Justin for taking great care of me and doing what was best during the emergency that I had. You were God sent angels and I am lucky that you were there that day to literally save my life. Thank you so much!

I came here because I have severe back pain after a car accident and it was just a big waste of time. They said I may have a herniated disk and asked if I wanted something for the pain after I had been stuck waiting in the hall for nearly 2 hours. Of course I said yes. They sent me for a CT scan and then afterward said CT scans don't usually show if you have a herniated disk, you'd need an MRI for that. Why did they give me a CT scan instead of an MRI? I have no idea. Instead of giving me an MRI they sent me home, but they waited until they were sending me home to finally give me a shot of toradol for the pain, which didn't really do much. Instead of prescribing an MRI and painkillers they prescribed lidocaine patches and told me to just keep taking Tylenol, which I already told them wasn't helping. Every time I end up here I end up waiting hours and getting no diagnosis or real treatment. Years ago a large dog tried to rip my nose off and I came here completely soaked in blood and still bleeding profusely. They rushed me back just for a nurse to hand me a piece of gauze and leave me to wait in the hall for SIX HOURS until they finally told me my insurance company wants me to drive to a facility 45 minutes away to see their ENT specialist. Again, I was sitting in the hall completely drenched in blood for 6 hours for nothing.
